Read the post Duqueine Team kicks off the 2025 ELMS season with flair in Barcelona: a pole by Reshad De Gerus, consistent pace from the new lineup, and encouraging signs for the future—despite a premature end to the race.
The second round of the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) took place at Imola, a legendary track known for its technical challenges and tricky chicanes. Despite multiple race incidents, yellow flags, and safety car interventions, the Oreca #30 of DUQUEINE Team delivered a strong performance, proving its potential for the rest of the season.
🔸 From Thursday’s collective tests, Imola proved to be as demanding as expected. Several cars were caught out by its tricky chicanes.
🔸 The Oreca #30 of DUQUEINE Team avoided these traps, collecting valuable data ahead of Saturday’s qualifying session.
As in Paul Ricard, Reshad De Gerus took on qualifying duties.
👉 Despite an early yellow flag, the young driver from Réunion Island managed to set an impressive lap time, just a few tenths off the top three.
👉 Result: 10th place on the starting grid, once again proving that the ELMS 2022 grid is highly competitive.
Memo Rojas was behind the wheel for the race start.
💨 In just one lap, he gained three positions, moving up from P10 to P7.
🚨 However, an early safety car disrupted strategies just as it had in the Le Mans Cup race on Saturday.
After multiple crashes and cars stranded in gravel, the race resumed. Unfortunately, a Full Course Yellow (FCY) right after the Oreca #30’s pit stop pushed Memo back to P12.
👉 The team then had to adopt a more aggressive race strategy to recover lost positions.
🔹 Reshad De Gerus then took over for an intense double stint.
🔹 He maintained a pace matching the race leaders, steadily climbing to P5 after 1.5 hours of intense battling.
💪 Richard Bradley, the final driver, was unlucky early in his stint, getting caught in a race incident.
💨 Fortunately, the Oreca #30 suffered no damage and, after another FCY, Richard fought hard to cross the finish line in 6th place.
✅ DUQUEINE Team showed clear progress from Paul Ricard.
✅ Despite a chaotic race, the team proved its potential and determination.
✅ With Le Mans approaching, the team will continue working hard to be stronger than ever for the legendary event.
📅 Next stop: The iconic Le Mans circuit!
P6 at Imola today. A bitter sweet feeling as we had a chance to finish close tod the podium. The Full Course Yellow impacted our strategy. We were a bit unlucky at times. Anyway, we are getting stronger and stronger and we are ready for the 24h of Le Mans.
We’ve made good progress since the start of the season but we still need to improve to fight for victory
We have three weeks of hard work ahead of us before Le Mans to get as ready as possible!
P6 today after a slightly mental race which had a bit of everything!! Pace was good and unlucky with some FCY timing but good progress. At the end of the race, I managed to move up in the standings.
We did a very good job and now we are all focused on the next race, which is the most beautiful one, the 24h of Le Mans.
