🚀 A Weekend of Progress for DUQUEINE Team at Monza
Following Le Mans, the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) made its next stop in Italy for the third round of the season. Originally set to take place at the Hungaroring, the race was ultimately moved to the legendary Monza circuit, known as the Temple of Speed.
With iconic corners like Ascari and Parabolica, Monza is both a high-speed and technical track, challenging teams and drivers alike.
During the collective tests and free practice sessions, DUQUEINE Team and their Oreca #30 successfully gathered valuable track data to prepare for Saturday’s qualifying and Sunday’s race.
📌 A Strong and Promising Qualifying Performance
🔥 An Impressive Lap from Reshad DE GERUS
On Saturday, July 2, just one day after his 19th birthday, Reshad DE GERUS took charge of the qualifying session. Despite using only one set of new tires, he delivered an outstanding performance:
✔️ 8th fastest time, just 0.745s off pole position
✔️ His best qualifying result at Monza
✔️ An ultra-competitive LMP2 field, with over 10 cars within one second
This session confirmed that DUQUEINE Team has made significant progress since the start of the season.
🏁 A Strong Start but a Short-Lived Race
🚦 A Brilliant Start for Memo ROJAS
On Sunday, Memo ROJAS started the 4 Hours of Monza from the 4th row on the grid. Right from the opening laps, he showcased his experience and skill, climbing to 7th place and battling against IDEC Sport and APR.
The #30 Oreca was displaying an impressive race pace, proving competitive among the frontrunners.
⚠️ An Early Incident Ends the Race
Unfortunately, after just 20 minutes, an on-track collision abruptly ended the team’s race. The Oreca #30 was forced to retire.
Despite this setback, Memo ROJAS had nothing to regret—he was delivering a flawless race up until the incident.
💪 A Weekend Full of Lessons for the Future
While the final result was frustrating, the weekend proved that DUQUEINE Team is making great strides:
✅ Strong qualifying performance, closing the gap to pole position
✅ Competitive race pace, matching the top teams
✅ A continuously improving team, race after race
With these consistent improvements, the Oreca #30 is now a real contender for top positions in the second half of the season.
🎯 Focus on Barcelona After the Summer Break
After an intense first half of the season, the team now takes a well-deserved summer break. The Alès-based squad will use this time to analyze their performance and come back even stronger.
📅 Next stop: August 25 in Barcelona for the 4th round of the ELMS. The objective is clear: turn performance into results!
📌 Encouraging Progress Despite the Retirement
Monza demonstrated that DUQUEINE Team has taken a major step forward in performance. While the race didn’t reward their efforts, the lessons learned will be crucial for the remainder of the championship. See you in Barcelona for another strong performance!
