This weekend took place, on the mythical circuit of Daytona, the first race of IMSA: the ROAR Before the Rolex 24.
12 D08s took part in the IMSA Prototype Challenge and WeatherTech races.
In WeatherTech, the ROAR race serves as a qualifying race for the Rolex 24 at Daytona which will take place the weekend of January 29 and 30. It defines the starting grid.
Pole Position and a first podium for JDC
JDC MOTORSPORTS
With three D08s entered, JDC Motorsports was present at the front of the race: its #23 took pole position! During the race, the crew Memo Gidley / Alexander Koreiba, will finally finish third.
As for the #40, qualified in 6th position, and moved up to 4th during the race, will finally take the checkered flag in 11th position due to racing incidents.
Last representative of the JDC team, the #43, in association with Robillard Racing, will take 18th place after qualifying 13th.
MUEHLNER MOTORSPORT
The Muhelner team wanted to start its 2022 season as it had finished the 2021's : at the front of the race.
Both Muehlner were on the pace all weekend. Unfortunately, at the last moment, the #21 could not take the start of the ROAR race. Bad luck also for #18, qualified in 7th position, who following racing events only crossed the line 16th.
AWA
The canadian team AWA, associated with Mantella Autosport, took part in its first race with the D08.
9th in qualifying practice, and after solid free practice on Friday, it crossed the line 14th without experiencing any problems on the track with a new car.
CT MOTORSPORTS
The #46, qualified 18th, while free practice suggested greater potential, still managed to move up 10 positions during the race. This great operation gives him an 8th place finish.
47 MOTORSPORTS
Very good weekend for FortySeven in IPC.
Once again, the #47 has shown its strength of character and the quality of its crew. Qualified 14th and taking advantage of race incidents, his crew was already in 8th at halfway. He will pass the checkered flag 4th, a few seconds from the podium.
A very good start of season for D08 in WeatherTech
MUEHLNER MOTORSPORT
With two D08s entered in WeatherTech for Daytona, Muehlner Motorsport, vice-champion of the IPC in 2021, wanted to start the 2022 season well.
Sunday, during the race, a clutch problem deprived the #26 of victory. A disappointment offset by the rise of #6 to 2nd place.
AWA RACING TEAM
First race for AWA with its yellow D08.
For this first major event, AWA wanted to bring out the best in its new acquisition : the DUQUEINE LMP3 D08. This team grew in strength throughout the weekend, with good sessions on Friday and Saturday. 7th in qualifying, the D08 #13 gained another 4 places to finish on the podium and thus start 3rd in the Rolex 24 at Daytona.
47 MOTORSPORTS
Already present in WeatherTech in 2021 with the D08 #7, 47 Motorsports has renewed its commitment to the 24 Hours of Daytona this year. Qualified only 9th, the team showed a very good pace in the race, finishing 4th, just 47 seconds from the podium.
